About the program
A real course experience — not just a driving range.
Golf at Windridge is built around the belief that the best way to learn the game is to actually play it. Rather than spending the session on a practice range, our golf majors travel five minutes down the road to the Northfield Country Club every day for three periods of supervised play. Small groups of eight campers get real time on the course — developing the course management, pace of play, and decision-making skills that only come from genuine game experience. Golf is Windridge's newest major, and we've built it carefully, with entry requirements that ensure every camper in the program is ready to keep up and get the most out of it, and a beginner pathway for newer players who want to get started on campus first.
What makes our program different
A real country club
Campers don't practice on a campus field, they play at the Northfield Country Club, a real course just five minutes from camp. That's the kind of experience that builds real golfers.
Supervised play
Our staff accompanies every group to the course, ensuring campers are playing safely, correctly, and at an appropriate pace. It's real golf, just with attentive supervision throughout.
Small groups of eight
With only 8 campers per group and two groups alternating morning and afternoon, every golfer gets real time on the course, not just observation. Our staff supervises closely and keeps play moving.
Limited & exclusive
With only 16 spots per session on a first-come, first-served basis, the golf major is the most intimate program at Windridge. Families who want it plan ahead.
The Northfield Country Club
Just five minutes from campus
Golf majors travel to the Northfield Country Club each day for three periods of supervised play. Our staff accompanies every group, ensuring campers are playing safely, correctly, and at an appropriate pace. This isn't a practice facility or a campus putting green, campers play actual holes and develop the course management skills that only come from real game experience.
Campers are responsible for carrying and caring for their own bags and equipment during their time at the club.

How the day is organized — golf majors
Morning group
8 campers travel to the Northfield Country Club for 3 periods of supervised play on the course
Afternoon group
Second group of 8 heads to the course while the morning group returns to camp for electives
Back at camp
When not at the course, golf majors join regular camp electives and activities alongside all other campers
More than just the course
Driving range
Every group visits the driving range at least once during the session. There they have a chance to work on swing mechanics and experiment with different clubs away from the pressure of a scored round. It's focused, low-stakes practice that reinforces what campers are learning on the course.
Mini golf day
Once a session, the scorecard gets set aside and we play a full round of mini golf just for fun. It's a reminder that golf is a game, games are meant to be enjoyed, and not every round needs to be serious. Campers love it every time.

Two pathways into golf at Windridge
The golf major is designed for campers with a foundation already in place, and who can keep up with the pace of play on a real course. For newer players, our beginner-friendly elective on campus is the perfect starting point and a natural stepping stone to the major in a future session.
Golf Major
For experienced players
Requires at least one year of prior experience, a basic grasp of fundamentals and rules, and the ability to keep up with pace of play on a real course. Campers ages 10 and under must attend a single golf elective first to confirm readiness. Majors carry and care for their own bags.
Golf Elective
For beginners & younger players
No experience needed. Beginners train on the practice fields right on the Windridge campus. They learn the basics of the swing, rules, and etiquette. A great first step toward the major.

Requirements for the golf major
- At least one year of prior golf experience
- Basic understanding of fundamentals and rules
- Ability to keep up with pace of play on a real course
- Campers age 10 and under must complete a golf elective first
- Must be able to carry and care for their own bag
What to pack
- Your own golf clubs (camp has some available if needed)
- Golf outfits including collared shirts
- Golf shoes or appropriate footwear
- Golf bag your child can carry themselves
