Second Day of Regular Programming

Another day of regular sports programing at summer camp in Vermont!

Campers can ride in sand rings, grass rings, and an indoor ring while horseback riding at Windridge.

Abby and Daniel woke up our campers this morning with a bell at 7:30 and we all headed into the dining hall for scrambled eggs and sausage. We also have oatmeal at breakfast, served with a handful of toppings, including real maple syrup made by Jen, our office manager, and her husband from their farm.

Today was a "reverse day" which means we started in the morning with periods 5, 6, 7 and 8. Campers usually have major blocks for periods 5 and 6, so after announcements and cleaning up their cabins, they headed to their fifth period.

Today in tennis, campers were working on net play. The period started off with a chat about net play and some strategies, and then after a demonstration, they broke out into groups on the courts.

Our soccer program focused on short, quick passes, and controlling the ball, and our campers broke out into groups for drills.

After a day of getting comfortable with the barn and the horses, horseback riders got out for another day or riding, and some even started jumping!

In the afternoon, campers went to periods 1, 2, 3 and 4 and we rehearsed our fire drill and Emergency Action Plan with the entire camp before snack. It was hot and humid in the afternoon, and we encouraged campers to get in the shade and pool to cool down.

The evening activity was Camouflage, which involves a lot of strategy and running, and everyone was nice and tired afterwards.

We are looking forward to pizza night tomorrow, and another day of regular programming.
